Our beloved British plug has had a rethink thanks to the South Korean student Min-Kyu Choi.

Personally I love the UK’s current bulky plug and plug sockets, they are safe, stable, constructed well and far superior to the flimsy US or European counterparts.

But not content with the bulky plug and inspired by Apple’s ultra-thin MacBook Air, Min-Kyu Choi designed the innovative Folding Plug and has just won the top prize in the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year Awards.

It’s certainly not a replacement to the British plug but a perfect companion for your mobile needs – well done Min-Kyu Choi.

Plastic bags are evil! We all know it, we just have to stop making them, using them and remember to take a couple of bags with us when we go shopping. Now its even easier with this little creation I came across a while back. The Flip and Tumble bag packs down into a tiny ball using it’s own built-in pocket which makes it easy to pop into your coat, handbag or backpack.

I ordered three bags from the online shop and have been using them on a regular basis over the last few weeks. They hold more than the average carrier bag and often get a “that’s a good idea” comment – we both throughly recommend them. They come in several colours, cost $12 (plus delivery) and you can order them here.

UPDATE:
You can now buy these beauties direct from a UK distributor. BAGSY IT
That will save a few pennies and save the planet some more.

I had an opportunity to play on a freshly unpacked Microsoft Surface coffee table today.

The aesthetics of the table itself could be better, but overall It’s quite a wonderful piece of technology and you can instantly see how many uses and applications could fit into this interactive environment. We were soon pointing out each others homes on MS Virtual Earth and shifting images around the table.

It’s exciting and I love it. It will be interesting to see where MS takes the platform over the next few years before Surface becomes available for individual consumers.
